User Experience

User Experience Design

There is the visual side to UI design and then there are the bones and structure of what holds visual UI together. Without a strong backbone to support the visuals, UI turns into pretty images with no purpose. User experience is the presence of knowledge and guidance that makes aesthetics come alive. While working on a design, I always first find out how the UX is going to work. Sketches, prototypes, mocks, wireframes and flows are some of the tools I use. Even while I am designing the visual side of the UI I always keep checking back with my previous UX design. Sometimes things change and it’s always good to keep the user in the front of my mind.

User experience is a huge passion of mine and one I am always learning about and improving. I enjoy taking a complicated feature or an idea and transforming it into a viable piece that anyone can use, even a child.

Aesthetics and UX are held hand in hand. I never let one wonder to far from the other. I truly believe that both sides of the interface cannot work without the other.

One thing I enjoy about being a UX Designer is the ability to visualize, concept and bring to life a flow for a product or game. Sometimes it’s a new idea, sometimes it’s one I’ve made before, but it never gets old because there are always new challenges.

Nothing is more rewarding or fun then knowing I did my absolute best to make a user feel completely fluid in an application. The end result should be fluidity for a user and the ability to move throughout the app without thinking.
